The Water's Reach is an animated short film about the accumulation & acceptance of sadness over time.
Maren (our protagonist) needs to let out this sadness by crying, and creates a magical man-made lake over the course of her childhood. After a couple of decades the lake turns into a giant monster, wanting to restrict Maren under the surface forever. After neglecting her emotions for so long, the lake creature will not be able to rest until Maren accepts her feelings.
This project was created over the span of 5-7 months, as my thesis project for St. Joost School of Art & Design.
